Some of you understand the name of my blog, but I’m sure many of you are in the dark. The fact is, I don’t particularly like ducks. I don’t actually have much opinion on them at all. And, really, the same goes for seats. I mean, these things are nice, but they don’t really have a strong connection to my life as it were.
That is, until someone pointed out to me when I was 18 that my Cantonese name, 薛德玲, sounds like Seat Duckling. Well, after a brief identity crisis of learning that my name really does sounds like a baby duck, I’ve come to embrace it, and here you are.
As far as introducing myself, I am a fourth-year college student from California, studying abroad at Beijing Normal University from June 2008 to June 2009. I am a comparative literature and Chinese double major, and have worked in both the newspaper and book publishing industries. Being unemployed for the first time in several years, I have started this blog as an outlet for my thoughts and observations about China and life in general. Enjoy!
